Get to know Pastor Townsend

I am Terry Townsend, Pastor of Armstrong Street Church of God. I am married to Patrina Lyle Townsend and we have five wonderful children. My family and I serve the congregation I grew up in wholeheartedly. After serving eight years in US Army, we moved back to Batesville, Mississippi. We began to serve on the youth ministry team. We have been on the youth team, deacon team, and on the pastoral team. On December 31, 2004, I became Pastor of ASCOG. And in December 2010, we began administering a Hope Mentoring Program as form of discipleship and outreach. The program has since turned in to non profit when we joined together nine local youth mentor group to formed Hope Mentoring Organization in December of 2018. We are now working tirelessly to serve as a beacon of Hope to young adult, youth and at risk young in our community.

I believe God blesses us to be a blessing, and I serve to bless others. I joined the military after graduating from South Panola High School and that began my life of service. I served eight years active in the US Army and three years in the Mississippi National Guard. While serving my state, I went onto NWCC and obtain an Emergency Medical Technician- Basic certificate. I volunteered on the Batesville Fire Department for several years as fireman/emt. I then began a career with the United States Postal Service. I have served my Community as mailman for 25 years. I have served my country, community, and the body of Christ for the last 20 plus years. I have been an advocate for youth for along time. who has serve others from a lifetime of service and have a heart to serve for a lifetime.

I grew up on Armstrong St where the  Church is located.  It was neighborhood that served as  a beacon of Hope. My neighbors were principals, teachers, lawyers, law enforcement, deputy sheriff, homemakers, factory workers, business owners, preachers, and community volunteers. Their lives shaped my desire to mentor, coach, and to be actively involved in my community. The iron in my neighborhood sharpen the iron me and strive everyday to be the iron that shape, share, and sharpen the lives of others.
